A lot of lip service is being paid to making scientific papers free to access but when it comes to action there is a lot of hypocrisy, according to Robert-Jan Smits, the EU's outgoing director-general for research, science and innovation. He has recently been appointed the EU's special envoy on open access, tasked with helping make all publicly funded research in Europe freely available by 2020.

“We are noticing the negative effects of this game, particularly on boys and most concerning, on boys in K-2,” it said.

Shellharbour public school in NSW told parents: “The ability to communicate online whilst playing these games is leading to moments of online bullying, the use of inappropriate language and abuse.”

Students in Generation Z would rather learn from YouTube videos than from nearly any other form of instruction. YouTube was designated as the preferred mode of learning by 59 percent of Gen Zers in a survey on the topic, compared to in-person group activities with classmates (mentioned by 57 percent), learning applications or games (47 percent) and printed books (also 47 percent). The only method of instruction that beat out YouTube? Teachers.

I've found this to be a good low cost alternative if you are creating white/black/green/clear board assets. Even better if you get it on the lifetime licence special they run from time to time (last one was one off cost of $97 for life, better than paying the subscription model). But in saying that, if you need one of these animations, get a licence for a month or two, produce your video assets and then let the subscription lapse.
