Hospitals and Healthcare
There are many challenges facing hospitals and healthcare in the modern world we are living in. I've created this curation collection to save articles that help me understand what modern health in society is.  The articles here are general in nature and placed here to promote discussion. We advise that you talk with your health professional before changing any of your medication or treatment options.  Any of the online courses listed here may (or may not) be open for access or enrolment. Most are free to browse, some may charge a small fee if you wish to receive a certificate or record of learning.   Every effort is made to ensure that these links are up to date and be aware that some of these articles may be behind a 'paywall'. If you can’t get into an article, email me and I may be able to assist.  Views are my own.

Access to Voluntary Assisted Dying in Victoria: Legal and Clinical Perspectives

Access to Voluntary Assisted Dying in Victoria: Legal and Clinical Perspectives | Hospitals and Healthcare | Scoop.it
On 19 June 2019, Victoria will be the first state in Australia to legalise assisted dying. The Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017 (Vic) establishes a strict regime for people at the end of life who are suffering to legally end their lives by taking a lethal dose of medication. Of the many safeguards in the regime, health practitioners cannot initiate a conversation with a patient about assisted dying. Patients must also be assessed as having cognitive capacity to request access to voluntary assisted dying. Additionally, health practitioners who have a conscientious objection may refuse to provide information about assisted dying or participate in any part of the process.
