experts believe that once you sprain your ankle once, you are likely to sprain the same ankle over and over again. experts still recommend the same method which is the old sport acronym RICE: rest, ice, compression and elevation and they suggest the patients to let their ankle heal before resuming any physical activities until they can walk on it pain free otherwise it may worsen or never heal witch could compromise their proprioception. Moreover, experts suggest performing agility drills to strengthen the same ankle once it is healed.
