Peter Mellow's insight:

Now, places outside the classroom are more useful than ever as learning spaces, for two reasons. first, portable technology means you don’t have to be near a power outlet to work and wi-fi brings online access to the remotest corner of campus. Second, college work now involves a lot of group projects. More assignments reflect and teach real-world knowledge economy skills: collaborating in pairs, small groups, and teams.

ICT enables schools to create physical and virtual learning spaces. Good design of physical learning spaces and effective use of ICT can maximise student learning. The learning environment includes:

• the physical space and furniture

• the ICT available and in use

• the teaching practice undertaken.

This section outlines how physical space and access device (computer) options are broadly related to teaching practice and describes different examples of ICT learning spaces.

1) I agreed with what the author is talking about as time have changed the things 21st century people have is different from the things 20st century have.

2)Yes as more and more advance things are building in the future there will be even more thing that would change or become better.

3)The future people would take advantage of things that are getting better now as it will be more advanced in the future.

4)The future generation

I agree with this author about the furniture used in classrooms then and now.

I can foresee things to be different in future. i can predict that in the future technology will be even advanced that there might be chairs designed with tables.

This will benefit the students and the teachers as there will be more space in the classrooms and it is easier for the students to have group discussions

I cant say that this is truly foolproof as students can misuse use these. They can dismentle the table from the chair and using it for other foolish activities like playing it with their friends..etc.

PM - This free downloadable PDF book was the catalyst for a change in thinking about learning environments. While not the first, it really gathered some traction within the tertiary environment in 2006. A great, worthwhile read.

EVERY teaching space architect should be forced to read this book before designing a classroom or any building at an educational institution.

I love the whole book, but my favourite is chapter 13, the lecture hall at LeBaron, Iowa State.
