The Porsche 911 is a sports-car icon, but the German brand is preparing some back-up in the face of stiff supercar competition.

 

Porsche has admitted it has begun work on a new mid-engined model to go head-to-head with the likes of the Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren MP4-12C.
