At this point of the school year, many Year 10 students begin to seriously think about what subjects they might pick for years 11 and 12.

While the majority of college students in a recent survey believe their major selection is a key determinant of future job prospects, only 50 percent of employers analyzed in the study specified a major requirement for job listings.

It's a big decision to carry on young shoulders.

A higher proportion of Islamic-school students in years 11 to 12 are enrolled in science and maths than other students in Australia. But they may not all get the careers they want.

Today's graduates may average five separate careers and around 17 different employers in their working life. This means an important skill these days is flexibility and the ability to adapt.
