The trouble with companies watching the world disrupt their business models is that it's hard for them to quit panicking long enough to raise their vision to reconceptualize how they can satisfy the market's core needs. (I'm not suggesting that this is EASY, btw, just necessary.) Think Kodak. People don't want a better magazine any more than they wanted better film cameras. www.audiencepsych.com

If journalists want to raise real awareness of what is going on in the world, they can´t just offer the audience facts and images. They also have to give possibilities to feel the reality. Nonny de la Peña´s Project Syria is a great example of it.

A fresh look a news. The reporting and spreading of news. But, it seems, still emphasizing the same boring 'Masters of the Universe.'

Moving forward - there's every reason to adapt and adopt. Like vinyl records and old photographic film, some old media methods will become a collectors (small audience) market, leaving mainstream media in the new delivery vehicles of our day today, and tomorrow's (there's the trick, working out what THEY will be!).

The lines at SxSW definitely tell the story: this isn't just the year of the story, it's the decade of coordinated, additive and interactive storytelling across multiple media channels for everything from entertainment and branding to education and journalism. It all starts with the story.

Create compelling content for multiple devices, immersive web-based experiences from data driven stories (infographics on visual video steroids) to interactive tablet documentaries. Eddie Rehfeldts report from SXSW - "There are mind-bending interactive story approaches available right now."

I would say virtual reality is definitely going to be considered by all markets: education, gaming, even for psychology purposes.
