Richie Barnett: Inexperience letting Warriors down | NZ Warriors Rugby League | Scoop.it
With the Warriors' season falling apart there's a lot of focus on coach Brian McClennan.

That's only natural. But I think people should look at the big picture. I added up the number of caps of the players who were missing the other day and it came to more than 600. That's a massive chunk of experience for any team to lose.

NRL: Vatuvei eyes history for Warriors

NRL: Vatuvei eyes history for Warriors | NZ Warriors Rugby League | Scoop.it
Warriors stand-in captain Manu Vatuvei is eyeing history, Nathan Friend will make his 150th career appearance and Carlos Tuimavave his first in Sunday's NRL clash against Cronulla at Mt Smart Stadium.

With regular skipper Simon Mannering still out with an ankle injury, Vatuvei will again lead the Warriors in his 148th appearance, one which could create an NRL first.

After scoring his 99th try last weekend, the giant winger will have a chance to become the first player to score 100 NRL tries for the club.

NRL: Warriors have another shocker - Sport - NZ Herald News

NRL: Warriors have another shocker - Sport - NZ Herald News | NZ Warriors Rugby League | Scoop.it

Manly were hardly in the game until the last 30 minutes but came up with three tries in the last 12 minutes to overhaul the Warriors, who failed to score a point in the last 36 minutes of the match. It means that the Auckland side's playoff ambitions are all but gone for 2012 and you would think it will take a long time to repair the psychological damage.

Manly skipper Jason King was taken to hospital as the Sea Eagles staged a remarkable NRL comeback to defeat the Warriors 24-22 at Perth's Patersons Stadium on Saturday night.

The Warriors were in complete command after racing out to an 18-0 lead inside 32 minutes, and still looked to have the game in the bag when they led 22-6 after Manu Vatuvei's 45th-minute try.

Patersons Stadium, Perth

Saturday 5.30pm (local)

What a difference a year makes: last year’s grand finalists – each coming off the back of worrying two-match losing streaks – lock horns in Perth with the loser either fading from the top-four frame or else falling into do-or-die territory in the battle for a berth in this year’s rapidly approaching finals series.

NRL: Warriors capitulate again

NRL: Warriors capitulate again | NZ Warriors Rugby League | Scoop.it
The Warriors have once again given up an 18-point first half lead to lose 24-22 to the Sea Eagles in Perth tonight.

The Sea Eagles scored three tries in the last ten minutes to clinch the win and keep their top four hopes alive, while the Warriors' playoff hopes are surely over following another disappointing capitulation.

After scoring three un-answered tries in the first half the Warriors looked the real-deal. They were strong, clinical and intense, and put in 39 minutes of exceptional league.

Muscle up or start thinking about 2013....

That's the equation facing the Warriors as they trot out on to Perth's Paterson's Stadium tonight to face a Manly side that has owned them for the last five years.

The Warriors' one success over that span was a 26-24 victory at Brookvale in 2009, when a Stacey Jones chip-and-chase in his comeback match sealed the deal.
